·Security and Safety
1.Push for the increase of police patrols on campus.
2.Ensure that campus security is provided with enough logistics for efficient service delivery.
3.Work on installation of street lights at all dark places especially around the Balme Library, 24hr reading rooms.
4.Sensitizing students on safety, disaster prevention and security issues.
1.Collaborate with School Medical Service to provide First Aid Boxes at the various porters lodges for emergency in the various halls
·Entrepreneurship and Innovative SRC
1.Embark on hunts for internship opportunity for students and also create an exit strategy for final year students to equip them for the job market.
2.Committed to the UGSRC hostel project.
3.Provision of ‘study shelters’ for group studies for elimination of group studies under trees.
1.UPON ASSUMPTION OF OFFICE, will in conjunction with Academic Affairs Directorate ensure the quick repair and replacement of all non-functioning public address systems in the various lecture halls across all campuses of the university. The team will ensure all faulty microphones and gadgets are replaced and faulty projectors serviced.
2.LEGTUBE Project – Audio visuals of all lecture sections to be made available to all students to enhance revision. (plan to pilot in departments that will encourage the provision of lecture tapes to students)
3.Ensure smooth registration and timely release of UGRC results to students. UPON ASSUMPTION OF OFFICE, will introduce UGRC complaints desk at union building so students who have problems with UGRC can lodge complaints for the Academic Affairs Committee of SRC to expedite action to resolve their problems. Avert situation of final year students not graduating due to outstanding UGRC results.
4.OR (in flyer) Eliminating all bottlenecks in the registration as well as release of results of the various UGRC courses.
1.Strengthening public relations arm of SRC – SRC and Students i.e. bridging the gap in communication between SRC and Students.
2.Revamp SRC website, make it effective and efficient when it comes to information dissemination
3.Sensitize students on importance of UG mail
4.Introduce “meet the students series” where the SRC will hold open forums in the various halls of residence where students get to meet the SRC executives and ask questions pertaining to the activities of the SRC.
5.Formation of ‘alliance of course reps’ as a means of bringing the SRC closer to you.
1.Ensuring electrical faults that cause blackouts on campus are fixed in timely manner by the Electricity Company of Ghana.
2.Partnering with and bringing on board corporate Ghana and oil Marketing Companies through their CSR vehicle in the maintenance and fueling of the power plants.
1.Work to improve upon the water service delivery in our residential halls and in lecture hall facilities. Enough water pumps will be fitted.
2.Ensure proper hygienic and sanitary conditions at all food joints and restaurants.
3.Re-introduction of the SRC shuttle system to provide shuttle services at a cheaper cost.
4.Work to ensure that all faulty routers are replaced and also access to Wi-Fi in students’ rooms as well as lecture hall facilities is expanded.
1.Building a strong rapport between the SRC and the university sports council to address the sports needs as well as the sports for credit challenges of athletes.
2.Building a strong relationship with the debate society and helping IN their activities.
·Students with Special Needs
1.Partner with students with special needs office for the erection of sign posts all over campus to aid the movement of students with special needs.
2.Advocate for the designation of zebra crossings on campus to also aid students with special needs in crossing the streets on campus.
3.Ensuring that ALL FACILITIES on campus are disability friendly. (Hmm.?)
·Korle Bu Campus
1.Ensure the renovation of the reading rooms at the Korle Bu campus in conjunction with the student leadership of the campus.
2.Making available to students buses of SRC to convey them to and fro in times of emergency like the TEWU strike.
3.Holding some programs of the SRC week celebration on the Korle Bu campus.
Within a year in office, August 2016 – June 2017, most (at least 80%), if not all, of these things should be accomplished to award a competent and effective SRC, sticking to the policies.
